“Unseen research is wasted research”
~ Gregg Bernstein
In early 2023, Dr. Carey Yazeed began to formally examine the inability of professional Black women to be vulnerable in the workplace. The need for this study evolved through her anthologies; each highlighting the stories of Black women in Corporate America. It was then that she realized psychological safety in the workplace is often approached through a lens of white privilege, that excludes the lived experiences of Black women.
With this study, Dr. Yazeed hopes to enlighten organizations on how to decrease the emotional harming of Black professional women, by taking into consideration their well-being. She aims to give corporate leaders a different perspective when it comes to addressing vulnerability in the workplace as it pertains to Black women, and ultimately leading to the creation of healthier workplaces and workers.
